A new look for Rapport! Our insights into building a new site in four weeks.

In case you haven’t stopped by in a while, you might notice our site has had a facelift, with a fresh brand look and expanded pages to cover our product offerings. Why are we launching an updated site? For more than a year, our Marketing team has had to rely on sharing engineering resources with Product for any updates or new pages. As you can imagine, it created a very slow, and bottlenecked process. Product engineers were constantly getting pulled to work on…you guessed it…product. As they should. We assessed various options that would empower the Marketing team to be able to own and update the website without the need of an engineer, allowing for faster testing and iterations. We settled on Webflow to host our Marketing site, as it allows for a full site CMS and a no-code editor that any non-technical team member can use efficiently. To set up the new site initially, our marketing team worked with Webflow Experts, Finsweet, over four weeks to launch an updated website that better reflects Rapport’s mission of bringing a human element to the digital world, while also empowering the Marketing team to operate in a more agile way.

With our new site officially launched, we’re excited to share with you some of the changes and updates you’ll notice as you scroll through our pages.

So what’s new?


Solutions Pages

Expanded Solutions pages help you to visualize how Rapport can fit seamlessly into your business, regardless of industry. From hospitality, retail, healthcare, and more, Rapport’s facial animation technology brings new life to your digital characters and helps your customers feel better connected.

Our legacy in the Gaming and TV/Film industry is reflected in their own pages as well. Featuring our past work in award-winning games including The Last of Us Part II, Resident Evil Village, and Fortnite, these pages also explain how our Speech Graphics technology works to animate characters for those who want to dive into the details. 

Careers Page

Yes, you really can work with someone who launched Sony Playstation in the US. The careers page underwent a major redesign prior to the new website launch, and you’ll now find individual office pages for our different locations, thoughts from team members about what it’s like to work at Rapport, and a revamped job listings section to make it easier to filter and find opportunities on our growing team.

Illustrations


Throughout the entire website, you will notice our illustrations have undergone a complete redesign of their own. Gone are the 2D images of the old site, and in their place, you’ll find vibrant, 3D images of our family of Rapport digital characters. The goal of updating the illustrations was to create a more obvious link between the content throughout our website and the work we do to help bring characters to life. The illustrations were designed by Predrag Markovic, and we can’t wait to work with him again. 

Blog Posts

Our home base for sharing our tips for better animation, industry news, company updates, technical advances, and more has been revamped with a search function and redesigned layout. We’ve got easy-to-filter categories you can choose from, with more to come as we dive into new tech trends.


Enabling speed, scalability, and ownership



Along with a new look, , our CMS has also been moved from Strapi to Webflow. The decision to use Webflow stemmed from the desire to enable Marketing to be able to have more control over making edits and changes to the website in real-time, along with launching new pages, removing the burden from our product development team to manage those requests.

Teamwork makes the dream work

While the development of the new site took only four weeks, the inkling of it began over a year ago when VP of Marketing, Ashley Whitlatch, encouraged our Founders to consider a new brand look and feel, as well as new brand messaging that felt more in line with our community of enterprise customers, developers, and AAA gaming studios. To help bring her vision to life, she brought in lead designer, Lili Popper, and they collaborated across teams with stakeholders to create the new look and feel, with a focus on user experience. The final polishing had all hands on deck, as the entire Marketing team prepped for a clean handoff.  

Once the design was finalized, the migration and full-site CMS was made possible by the team at Finsweet. Working off of Lili’s design in Figma, the Finsweet team was able to deliver our new design for the site + CMS functionality in record time. With four weeks from start to finish, communication was constant as each idea our team came up with was made a reality.

The team at Finsweet was even happy to provide us with quick videos on how Webflow works! They did a great job constantly communicating with our team, and really put their best efforts into making sure the website turned out exactly as we wanted it. I would love to work with them again!”

Our takeaways

We are thrilled to share this new version of our site with you. With a rapid fast development timeline of just four weeks, this project was an excellent test of our team’s ability to communicate efficiently across five time zones in order to keep to the aggressive deadline. We are equally excited to be empowered to make necessary changes in real-time and quickly iterate on new ideas. Our suggestion for other businesses experiencing similar roadblocks with their current website + limited CMS is to look into no-code options like Webflow, in order to enable their marketing team with an easy to manage process for making updates. The end result is a growth-minded website that ultimately takes the burden off of your development team.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
