Scenario Context: You are meeting with Anya, one of your direct reports, to discuss missed deadlines on a project she is working on with her teammate, Taylor. The team submitted the final project report one day late, resulting in a two-day delay in delivery to the client.
Your Goal: Seek to understand the factors that contributed to missed deadlines on Anya and Taylor’s project. Help Anya move from a defensive mindset toward a more collaborative one, and gain her agreement to meet with you and Taylor to address the collaboration challenges and identify a constructive path forward.
